A post summarizing the last couple months….

Hi Baby,

Our first Dr’s appointment was on your Dad’s 34th birthday, July 10th.  We were nervous and excited to see you.  As we got ready for the ultrasound, we were anxious.  We just wanted to make sure you were healthy and growing.  And then we saw it….your heartbeat!  It was such a wave of relief to see it beating away.  It was a great birthday present for your Dad.  He even asked the technician to write “Happy Birthday Daddy” on a photo of you.  You don’t look like much more than an alien life form right now, but you are the cutest little alien blob ever!

At 10 weeks, the nurses at my work did an ultrasound for us…..you are a very, VERY active baby!  At just 10 weeks old you were already kicking and flipping and moving your arms and legs all over the place.  Our head nurse commented that it was the most active she had ever seen a baby be.    Wooooowweeeeeee.  Sounds like we’re in for a wild ride!    We watched for almost 10 minutes. Just kicking and flipping away.  It was really magical.  (see the video link at the end of the post!)

You are 12 weeks old growing in my tummy.  You have been making me sick, sick, sick, sick!  I am having to take a ton of medication just to stop from throwing up.  I’m now on 3 major anti-nausea meds that all work together to get me through the day.  I was only taking 2 of them, and I was dry heaving so much my throat started bleeding.  I really hope one day you appreciate the hell I went through to bring you here 😉    You had better be extra nice to me when I’m old and senile!  Also we got a peek at you last week at 12 weeks.  And of course, you were moving around again.  When our nurse giggled my belly, you threw your hands up over your head like you were surprised that someone had bothered you.  It was crazy to see you already having reflexes.

Now, at 15 weeks, I think I feel you moving! I’m almost certain I felt you kick this weekend.  It’s so so exciting.  I love the reminder that you’re in there (a reminder that doesn’t involve me throwing up).  I can’t wait until Daddy can feel it too!  In just a week and a half we will find out if you are a boy or a girl.  How exciting!   I can’t wait to know, and to pick your name, and design your nursery.   My belly has started to pouch out a  little bit as I grow to make room for you.   I’m still very sick from morning (all day) sickness and taking many meds to make sure I stay hydrated and eating so that you are safe to grow.  I believe I have finally gained a pound, which is not a small task given how sick I’ve been.  I’m eating lots of fruit trying to keep you healthy.  I’m more sick in the evening, than the day time with you (which is opposite of Lucas).  Big brother Lucas is still kissing my belly and saying baby!  He likes to take care of his mama when I’m sick.  A couple of times he has followed me to the bathroom when I’ve run to throw up and he says “OH Mama, Mama bick (sick), oh mama”  And then he’ll rip off a piece of toilet paper and said “Mama tear” and wipe away my tears.  He is such a sweet big brother,   I’m sure you two will be the best of friends.

We love you little one, keep growing healthy, and please please please stop making me sick!  If you do, I promise I’ll never ever make you eat gross green peas.  Ever.

Here is the video from when you were only 10 weeks- I repeat, 10 WEEKS old in my belly, flopping all around.
