Lucas- August 2015

Hi My Lukie Lukes,

You’re growing up so much from day to day.  It’s amazing the conversations that pop out of your mouth now.  You are so curious about everything, and love asking questions, and then more questions, and then more questions.   You continue to test your boundaries at every turn, and a full-fledged “threenager” who refuses to smile for photos, instead doing a kissy face, or squinting your eyes shut.  We literally have to make you laugh to get you to smile for the camera.  Yelling “Daddy’s BUTT!” normally does the trick, hahaha!

This month was full of fun for you.  We went to the state fair, which you always love.  Your PopPop and Aunt Katie went with us, and of course you had a great time.  We got a giggle out of the fact that during the little kids bike race you ran the red light and had to be brought back in line by the policeman.  Breaking the law already, oh my! haha! This year was your first year to be big enough to go to the Midway and ride the rides and play games.  You had an absolute blast!   The most fun you had was on the carousel because I was able to go on it with you.  Every time we came around we would wave at Daddy (and your sleeping Sis) and Daddy would make funny faces at us and you would laugh and laugh and laugh uncontrollably.  It was so much fun to see you enjoy it so much.  We stayed until you were ready to drop from exhaustion.  It was a fun, fun day!

Your Uncle Joey came in town, and you loved getting to hang out with him!  He brought you a hat that said Lucas on it, and you wouldn’t take it off.  Ever since then every time you put it on you tell me “my Uncle Joey gave me this hat”.    You love playing with all the rest of your family members when we get to visit with them too!  Especially your new cousin “Dandin”, you really like to hug and put your head on him.  He tolerates it better than your sis does.  Ha!

You got to go to several birthday parties, and saw your friends Eli, Lyric, and Piper among others.  You loved going to a gym class and getting to run around and play, and you also loved getting to go with Desmond and David at their restaurant back into the kitchen like a VIP.  You still love doing projects, and we started some alphabet projects this month.  Every day you’ll come home from Elyse’s and ask if we can do a project together.  You love one on one attention, but also love having a sister to play with.  You still like to antagonize her, and love on her way too roughly.   It’s almost a full time job to make sure you don’t accidentally hurt her with your wild style of playing.  She will grow up to be a rough and tough little girl, that’s for sure!   You had your second dental checkup this month, and got an A++ and a member of the no cavity club!  Yay!  Daddy and you brush your teeth twice a day, and floss your teeth every night.  Those pearly whites sure are healthy!  Speaking of Daddy, you got to wear a shirt that was his in kindergarten as a little boy, it was so sweet to see you with something of your Dad’s from 32 or so years ago.

Overall my baby, August was a fun month.  While I have to admit, 3 is my least favorite age so far (due to the aforementioned boundary testing and threenager-y behavior), you are still my amazing little boy and I am so thrilled that you are ours.  Love you to the moon and  back my boy.
