Feb 14th, the elongated story…. 2

Hi Baby Boy!

I wanted to give the long version of our ultrasound day, (as your Aunt Katie calls it, “The Big Day”).   I know one day when we get old and senile we might not remember all of these details….

So, your Grandmother (Gramma? Granny? Grandma?  Grammy? She hasn’t decided what she wants to be called yet), and your Aunt Katie drove to Lexington so they could go to the ultrasound with us (your Daddy and myself).   Daddy brought them to my office to meet all of my coworkers, and you would have thought that a party of 20 just arrived with all the commotion.   Aunt Katie brought a big present for us that she was toting around with her, she sure likes to buy you stuff!    When it was time for the appointment, we took the elevator down to the first floor where my OB’s office is.   We were the only group of 4 in the waiting room.

Once it was time for the ultrasound, I laid down on the exam table and the tech put the ultrasound wand on my stomach, and IMMEDIATELY, and I mean within .01 of a second said, it’s showing his stuff, HE’S A BOY!!!  We all look at each other and smiled, and your Dad squeezed my hand.   I still had no idea what I was looking at on the screen, so I asked the tech to show me.  She zoomed in, and showed us your boy parts…. sure enough- you’re a boy, no doubt about it! 😉  Your Dad was so proud.

For the next 10 or 15 mins the tech looked around and we got to see different views of you, your feet, your long legs and your sweet face.  We even got to see you yawn!! It was so sweet!!!!   When we were done, I heard the tech say “Where did that come from?”  And I turned around to see what she was talking about, and your Aunt Katie had pulled out a little boy’s bib, and a boy card!   She had bought one of each so she would be prepared for a boy or girl!  Silly Auntie!

Your Grandfather (Grandpa, Grampa?  Poppy?), your Uncle Michael, and your Uncle Joey  were impatiently waiting back in Louisville to hear the news.    On the way out of the ultrasound room, I stopped to go to the bathroom, and everyone else went out to the waiting room to wait for me.  Your Uncle Michael called your Grandmother’s phone and she answered and said “It’s a boy!!!”  Your Uncle Michael screamed so loud that everyone in the waiting room bust out laughing!!  We definitely created a scene that day!!

When I got back to the house, Daddy had two dozen red roses on the table for me, and a present (an awesome camera lens).  He also made my favorite meal (Moroccan Chicken Pie), and my favorite dessert (Chocolate Raspberry Ganache).   He is such a good man.  The best I could ever dream of!
