Lucas- December 2015

Hi My Lukie Walter Love,

Of course you loved the month of December, tons of playing, tons of family, tons of friends, and tons of toys!  What more could a 3 year old little boy want?  This month I took you to tour your new preschool that you start next month, and it was so awesome.  Daddy and I had already been to see it when we signed you up, but I wanted you to see it yourself before you saw it.  Rylie Grace saw you from across the gymnasium, and her shriek of excitement could have been heard from China.  You guys ran towards each other and embraced in a HUGE hug.  It was so precious.  She then proceeded to walk you around your whole classroom and show you everything.  You loved it.  Your teacher, Ms. Dawn, even took time out of her lunch break to come do a craft with you.  She took your footprint, and told me she’d make me a surprise Christmas gift out of it for us.  Love her already!   After touring your school, you and I went on a “Mama and Lukie date”, we went out to lunch at Cosi, and even got s’mores we roasted over a little tabletop fire for dessert.  It was a fun day, and we were so so happy that you loved your tour of the school.

You love Christmas decorations, and especially love eggnog, and beating up frosty the inflatable snowman we have in the front yard.   We always decorate while drinking our eggnog, and listening to Christmas music.   We decorated for Christmas while being careful that we now have a super curious infant who loves to put everything in her mouth, and a rambunctious 3 year old who has to touch everything.   In fact, we ended up putting a baby gate around the entire tree that kept Emme away from it, hahaha!  Of course, Elfie, the magic Christmas elf made his return this year, hiding around the house in funny places.  You LOVED spotting him each day, and seeing where he had moved to next.  He even brought you and your sis new Christmas jammies to wear the night before Christmas.

In the beginning of December, you went to your friend Piper’s first birthday- a winter(one)derland party!  We were all decked out in our red clothes, and you even got to ride in your very first horse and carriage.   The weekend before Christmas we took off down to Tennessee to celebrate Christmas with Daddy’s side of the family-  your Aunt Jera, Uncle Kevin, Cousins Camron and Nathan, Your Grandaddy, Granny Pat, Gramma, and Papa Mike, Uncle BJ and Auntie Mischele, and Cousins Chelsea, Dylan, Tyler, Baby Brayden, Dakota, and Chase.    While we were in TN you even got to go to your Cousin Camron’s basketball game and had so much fun.  One of your Christmas presents from your Aunt Jera was headphones, and while we were at the game, you wouldn’t take them off even though they weren’t plugged into anything. Hahaha!  And you loooooove your “Tousin Tamron and Tousin Nafen”… everything they do is soooooo cool to you!

After we returned from TN, we got to spend only a couple days at home until we had to pack up to go into Louisville for family Christmas there. Don’t worry, I told Santa where to find you on Christmas Eve.   We rolled into Grammy and PopPop’s house on Christmas eve and made sure to get our Christmas cookies for Santa in the oven.   Turns out Mrs. Clause wanted sugar cookies with christmas tree decorations in them, while Santa wanted chocolate chip cookie, so we made a batch of both!   We had a big Christmas eve dinner, and enjoyed hanging out with Dammy, PopPop, Muncle Mike, Aunt Katie, Uncle Potter, Grandin and Deanna.  You and your sis both wore the christmas jammies that Elfie brought, and we busied ourselves getting ready for Santa’s arrival.    The next morning on Christmas day you and Emme woke up to a HUGE, enormous stack of gifts!   We impatiently waited for the rest of the family to arrive, and once everyone got there, we tore into the gifts.  You freaked OUT over some of your gifts.  You got a doctor kit, the whole character list of Blaze and the Monster Machines!  You would exclaim each one of their names as you were pulling it out of the gift bag.   Remote controlled cars where you exclaimed “I WISHED for one of these!!” You got super hero outfits, and spiderman webs.  When you opened your flying Baymax from PopPop and Dammy you jumped around clapping your hands and shouting “Me wanted this!!  Open it! Open it! ”   We had our traditional blueberry pancakes with whipcream for breakfast, made mama’s crockpot hot chocolate, you and I made your very first gingerbread house (I had a hard time getting you to not eat all the decorating candy) and then got changed into your adorable Christmas outfits.   All of our extended family came over on Christmas night-  Uncle Randy, Aunt Christe, Uncle Potter, Cousin Kelly, and Max.     Another tradition that you may understand when you’re older is to choose a way to give back to the community.  This year, like last year,  we donated $$ to a Mom in a situation of domestic violence who needed help.   Every year I hope to help you and your sister see the importance of giving back.  While this attitude is something we should have all year long, it is a good time of year to do a little something extra.

To round out the year, you went to your very first New Years Eve party!  As a family we went over to Kevin, Jami, Lyric and Piper’s house and got to enjoy the festivities.   After you got to play for a bit, we put you and your brother to sleep upstairs, and Daddy and I got to enjoy the party with the rest of the adults.  As the ball dropped, and the clock struck midnight, the year you became a big brother came to an end.  This year changed your life forever.  Your best friend was born, and you adore her.  You love to mess with her, and antagonize her, but you still adore her.  My two little peas in a pod.  I love you so much my boy.
