Emelyn- February 2016 1 year old!

My Dear, Sweet, Beautiful Baby Girl,

Where has the time gone?  You are one year old, and absolutely incredible.  I am so in love with you, I can’t even describe the feelings.  Holding you, cuddling you, it makes me feel like the most lucky woman in the world.  I can’t believe you are mine.    This past year has been incredible.  Every says the infant stage is hard, but I have loved it.  Every second of it.   The days, weeks, and months have flown by.  You went from a tiny, itty bitty little baby scrunched on my chest, to a rambunctious, busy, climbing, loving, toddler in the blink of an eye.
You weigh 18 lbs, and are 30 inches tall.  That makes you in the 76th percentile for height, and 7th for weight.  Tall and slender! Just like Mama and Daddy!  You eat EVERYTHING in sight.  You love food.  The doctors say you are perfectly healthy, you are on the move SO much you just burn your calories faster than you can replace them.   Yesterday for breakfast you had 2 whole scrambled eggs and an entire clementine orange, as well as your milk.  Big eater baby!
On 2/02/16 you stood up on your own,  by the second week in February you were walking all around, and by Feb 14th you were no longer crawling ever, you were only walking.   By the end of the month you are speed walking, and literally climbing up onto the couch and catapulting yourself over the side arms to slide down the other side and escape our barricades.    You’re so smart though, you know to slide your feet down first so you don’t smash your face.   You can hold your own with bigger kids, and are pretty rough and tumble.    You love to show us stuff and say “this this this”.  You also say bye bye, Mama, Dada, Bubba, PopPop, and poop!      It made your Daddy cry this month when he walked in the door, and you looked at him and exclaimed “Dada!”   You get so excited when we come to get you, you smile and run to us and beg to be picked up and hugged.   You will open mouth kiss our cheek, and give great big bear hugs.    You even give hugs on demand, blow kisses, and wave bye bye (while saying bye bye!)
You’re sassy as can be, and if we tell you not to do something, you will giggle, run off faster, and make sure to definitely do whatever we asked you not to.  You love to throw food behind your head, and then get your hands all dirty and run them through your hair.   You want to do whatever your brother is doing, and are very displeased if you can’t take part.  Speaking of your brother, you love him, and can’t stand him all at the same time hahaha!  You LOVE to play with him, and see him in the mornings, until he starts yanking on you, and rough housing, and knocking you over, and then you VERY LOUDLY tell us about your displeasure.  Then sometimes you’ll even get quite dramatic and if he even walks near you you’ll whine that he’s in your space.  It starts already hahahaha!   Seriously though, you guys really do love each other.  Lucas ADORES you, and wants you with him wherever he is.  We took Lucas to a movie this month, just me and him and Daddy while you stayed with Elyse since you’re too little, and he was so concerned about where his sissy was going to be, and why you couldn’t go with us.   You two are such a good pair.
Your BFF at Elyse’s house is Lincoln, and you guys create so much havoc together hahaha!  Apparently you two are the hooligans over at Elyse’s, always getting into something together.    You have some other best friends, Lyric and Piper who you LOVE to play with as well.  Piper is a couple months older than you, and Lyric is about a year and a half older, but you can hold your own.  Even bouncing in bounce houses with the 4 of you.   So long as it is a big kid activity, you love to do it!   Elyse even took a video of you climbing up a little slide, sitting on it, moving your legs around front all on your own, sliding down, then standing up to clap for yourself.  It was so precious!    Your first Valentines Day with this month, and of course I tried to get photos of you and your boyfriend Lincoln, but you two rascals wouldn’t stay still.  Elyse did get some shots of you and the other babies and you and your bruddy in your red outfits.   You also got to meet your our great family friend, Uncle Terry Johnson, this month.  He was down from Maine and stayed at the house to love on you and Lucas.  Also in Feb, we bundled you up in a snow suit for the first time so you could play around, and I pulled out a beautiful purple winter hat for you to wear.  That toboggan has  special meaning because it was the first thing your Dad and I bought after we found out you were a girl.  We both got tears in our eyes seeing how precious it was on that day of the ultrasound telling us we had a daughter.
Your birthday party turned out AMAZING.  And I mean, phenomenal.  The best party I’ve ever thrown.  I wanted it to be so special for you, and it was!!  We did a “From Paris, With Love” theme, and it was beyond gorgeous.   We had Eiffel Towers everywhere, and even a light up sign for your name,  we had custom made decorations ordered in that were in the party colors (black, white, gold, and red), and said Emme, Je T’aime, and Mon Amour on them,  A two tiered cake with Eiffel Tower on top, one layer of chocolate, and one of vanilla, a French Press coffee station, with french roast pressed coffee, espresso flavored macarons, french vanilla creamer, madeleines (french butter cookies), complete with custom coffee cups that said “Cafe Emme”.   We had light up “Love” signs, and red roses all over, we had tons of different french cookies, eclairs, bon bons, and macarons.  The amazing macarons where a gift from Auntie Jami- she custom ordered black and red ones in from a local french bakery, and had them monogrammed with an E  and a 1.  They were fantastic!   We had chicken salad on french croissants, assorted mini french quiches, mini brie cups made by Daddy, french crackers served with prosciutto and various french cheeses, we had petite palimers, French wines, and French Beer.  Mona Lisa was even at the party as a prop, and I got a picture of every guest posing as her.  Some guests were more willing than others hahaha!
You had TONS of friends and family show up for your party, you are one loved little girl!  The highlight was definitely you eating your cake.  There was a special matching smash cake made just for you, we had a candle in it, that we let your brother blow out for you, then we let you go to town.   You DEVOURED that entire cake, literally grabbing both fistfuls at the same time and shoving it in your mouth.  The whole party was laughing and watching with amazement at what a tiny little girl could eat.  You had almost finished the entire cake before I decided I was afraid you’d puke and I took it away.  It was absolutely stunning how much cake you shoved in.  So so so funny!  Numerous people said they’d never seen anything like it!   Your friends got to go home with goody bags filled with a french beret artist’s hat, an artist’s smock, a paint palette and paint brushes.
Your Aunt Jera and Cousin Camron came up from TN and Aunt Katie and Cousin Grandin and Deanna were there, you got to meet your new 2nd cousin, Hollis, because Cousin Kelly and Max also came.  Your friend Griffin came with his Mom Woods, and Rylie and Cade came with Jenny and Blaine, Lincoln came with his Ashley and Jason, Graham and Ellie came with Grace, Eli came with Julie and Eric, Colby came with Stephanie, Piper and Lyric came with Jami and Kevin, Ben came with Auntie Laina (Ella was sick), friends Justin, Lindsey, Sarah Jane, Brad, Susan Parr, Madison, Chris and Tracy all came too.   Your PopPop and Dammy were out of the country in the Phillipines for a work trip, Uncle Joey was in San Francisco, and Muncle Michael got stuck at work, so couldn’t be there.  But everyone certainly sent their love.
It really was a fantastic party.
The morning of your actual birthday, we woke you up, and all of us sang you Happy Birthday multiple times haha.  Daddy made you your first traditional birthday pancake in the shape of a 1.   You went to Elyse’s for a little bit, but then Mama picked you up at lunch so I could spend some extra time with you.  We went over to Jami’s house, and you had a fantastic time playing with Lyric and Piper.  I don’t think I’d ever seen you have so much fun.    I snuggled you extra tight as the sad sad realization came that you are growing up too fast.  Gone are the days of you snuggling on my chest for hours, and instead is reading some books, a quick rocking, a song, and then laying you down and you roll on your side and go straight to sleep.  Yes! You’re a great sleeper, but but but, I want you to stay my tiny snuggly baby for ever and ever.
I love you so much baby girl.  I can’t wait to see what the next year brings!  Love you forever! Your, Mama
