Emelyn- November 2015

Hi my baby girl, SO much has changed with you this month.  I guess the same can be said for every month, but man, it sure does fly by.    To begin the month you had three teeth, to end you had 4.  You said “bye bye” for the first time on Nov 13th, and were clapping and waving this month.   By mid-November you were regularly pulling yourself up to a stand on the couch.  Man o man!  Here comes Emme!

This month you went for food-allergy testing, just like big brother did in the past :(   We knew from Lucas’ food allergies that you would be predisposed to them as well, so we wasted no time getting you an appointment with the allergist.  Overall you went back on 3 different occasions for the prick test (it can’t be done all at once because you’re too small).  You turned up allergic to:  dairy (uggg, knew that one was coming.  This means all milk, butter, yogurt, cheese etc etc), carrots, onions, barley, garlic, pea and crab.   You wouldn’t think onion and garlic and barley are that annoying for a baby, but let me tell you what.  It SUCKS.  anything we cook normally has onion or garlic in it.  Any broths or soups are made with it.  Same with dairy, it’s in everything!  And barley is in most breads.  And your favorite finger food was previously peas.  Ug ug ug.  Well, at least we know what foods to pull off of so you can thrive.

Your check up this month had you at 15 lbs 13 oz, still my tall, thin baby girl!  You went to Cousin Kelly’s baby shower, and got to stun everyone in your beautiful dress.  You went to the Cincinnati zoo, saw lots of animals, and loved strolling around.  Most importantly this month was your baptism and Thanksgiving!   We planned your baptism around the time when your Uncle Joey could be in town so we did it the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Uncle Joey was your godfather, and Auntie Alaina & Auntie Marcela were your godmothers (you’re so special you get two godmothers!)  We had a beautiful ceremony at The Cathedral of the Assumption, and you were baptized in front of family and friends by Deacon Pat Wright.  This was so special to us because 7.5 years earlier, May 9th, 2008, Daddy and I were married in that same church, by Deacon Pat.  And then, in 2012, Lucas was baptized in the same church, also by Deacon Pat.  The memories and tradition of us starting our marriage in the same place our children were baptized is amazing.    And you looked GORGEOUS.  In a beautiful flowing white christening gown.  You were not overly thrilled when Deacon Pat got some holy water in your eyes, and let out a cry.  But as soon as we raised you back up, you got quiet, and just glared him down.    Your Uncle Michael, Aunt Katie, and my old nanny, Susan, did readings at your baptism, and it was such a special event.   Then your Uncle Michael put together a great reception for you at our family restaurant, Highland Morning.   Everything turned out so beautiful!

The next day was your first Thanksgiving, our family is rapidly expanding, and so fun to add you to our traditions.  You loved getting held and loved on by everyone.  You even got to sit at the table with us.  We went around the table saying what we were thankful for, and your brother said he was thankful for his family- mama, daddy, and baby sissy.  So sweet!   I can’t wait to show you the rest of our family traditions beautiful girl!
