Emelyn- July 2015

Hi My Baby Sister,

During the month of July you turned 5 months old.  You are so sweet, with the most infectiously happy personality.  You kick your feet and jump and jump when you see me.  Then you grab my cheeks with your hands and open your mouth really wide to kiss me and/or try to eat my face like a zombie.  You are SO amazingly adorable.  Everyone loves you.  Especially big brother Lucas, and you love him too! He constantly wants to hold you, play with you, and love all over you.  He calls you  “my sis” or “baby sissy” or “baby sister” and occasionally “baby Emme.”  We switched his carseat around forward facing so now any time we’re in the car he will spend the drive making faces at you. You laugh and laugh and laugh at him.  It’s so amazing to hear you two interacting in the backseat!

This month you discovered that you loved to chew on your toes.  Anytime we have them out of socks they are in your mouth.  In fact, everything goes in your mouth!  Especially if you aren’t suppose to have it…. you’ll snatch it just as fast as your little fingers will go and shove it (whatever “it” may be) in your mouth while we try to wrestle it away from you.    Your Daddy turned 35 this month, and it’s amazing to think that 1 year ago exactly on Daddy’s birthday, we had our first ultrasound of you as just a little blob! The technician wrote “Happy Birthday Daddy” on it, and it was the greatest gift because it was the day we saw your heart beating healthily for the very first time.   It really is incredible to think about.

Also this month was Lucas’ 3rd birthday, you got to visit with lots of friends and family, and wore an adorable little polka dotted party dress.  Your Aunt Jera and I talked about picking out your party dress, and our own party dresses so much that your brother Lucas chimed in “my want a party dress!”  We all had a good laugh about that :)   You had your first pool day in the backyard this month, and you LOVED it.  You looked so glamorous in your floppy sunhat and adorable bathing suit.  You even helped shoot your first water gun.  Lucas was so excited to have you in the pool playing with him.   Also this month was your first 4th of July, and of course you looked adorable in your patriotic outfit.   I just love having a girl to dress up :)    We rounded out 4th of July weekend with your first visit with us and PopPop to a family favorite restaurant, Huber’s Farm, in southern Indiana.  I grew up going there as a child, so it was fun to bring you and Lucas back there.

You are wearing 6-9 month clothes, even though in July you were only 5 months old, you are a tall girl.  The changes happen so fast, that I can’t blink without missing something.  You flip directly off of your tummy every time we try to put you there, and still highly dislike tummy time.  You love toys, and you love chewing on stuff. Daddy still sleeps next to you every night, even though you sleep through the entire night, he can’t bring himself to leave you alone in a different room.  You are adored by every member of this family.  And I hope you always remember that!  I love every single minute with you, and would hold you all day long if I could.  You love attention, you love being held, and you love being part of the action.  You are so interested in the world around you, and curious as to what everything that comes within a foot radius of you tastes like.  You are sweet, and snuggly, and perfect.  I love you so much my beautiful girl.
