Lucas- January 2015 1

Hi Baby!

Welcome to the new year :)  The year you are going to be a big brother! You are so so so excited about your baby sister.  You talk about her and to her all the time.  It’s precious!  You even went to the baby store and picked out a gift to give to her all by yourself.  You picked her out a little owl, fitting because you sleep with your own owl and baby doll every night.  You tell her (my belly) that you love her whenever you’re close to me.  Such a sweet boy.

This month started off with a family date night in Louisville.  We had our family maternity shoot in Louisville and were having trouble finding a place with the cold, rainy weather.  We decided to go downtown to the Galt House and make a nice “date night”- thanks to a gift card from Aunt Christe and Uncle Randy!  We got a hotel room for the 3 of us, then got all fancied up for our photos.  We ran around the hotel with our photographer getting our pictures taken.  You and Daddy thought it was hilarious when the wind kept blowing my umbrella inside out while you stayed inside in warmth.  Haha!  After our photos were over, we let you explore around the hotel, and then we strolled down the street to a fancy dinner at Vincenzo’s (we had a groupon!).  Pretty sure we’re the only people to take a 2 year old there, but you were great.   After dinner we enjoyed the walk back to the hotel.  Daddy went and got himself a drink from the bar, and me a fruity (non-alcoholic) drink, and we enjoyed watching movies in our big bed for the rest of the night with you snuggled between us.   It was a great family night.

Also in January you built your first snowman.  Your Aunt Jera gave you the snowman kit that I had bought your cousin’s Camron and Nathan when they were little boys.  It came full circle back to us!  It has a hat and scarf, and all the accessories that you would need to make a perfect snowman.  You and Daddy built it, while I watched from inside with my big pregnant belly.  After it was built, you then played snow baseball (which you loved),  built snow walls out of sand buckets (that you knocked down faster than Daddy could build).  Lastly you moved back to the snowman, where Daddy and you took your golf clubs to it and smashed it to smithereens!   I wanted it to stay up until it melted, but smashing it was just too much fun!

You also had your first dentist appointment this month, and did wonderful! I was so nervous because you’re not a huge fan of opening your mouth for teeth brushing, but you let them do xrays, an exam and a thorough cleaning including flossing!  The dentist was thoroughly impressed with you, and commented how mature and advanced he thought you were.  Daddy took you, because I couldn’t get off work (the first time I’ve missed a “first” of yours… sniff!).  I got photos and updates the whole time from Daddy.

We also took you to your first professional basketball game- the Harlem Globetrotters!  We scored fantastic seats from Groupon in the 2nd row, and you loved getting to see the “Super guys”  play basketball!  You are obsessed with super heroes right now, and since the basketball players were doing all sorts of tricks and flying through the air to dunk the ball, you thought they were super guys too!    Of course you’ve visited with friends and family during the month.  And you love to be social!  You are friendly, and talkative.  You also love to visit me at work.  You get paid $1 to vacuum our floors- and it’s the coolest thing in the world to you!

You are definitely in a trying age.  You love to test boundaries, and have experienced many time outs.  When I give you a warning and count to 3, you frequently push it allll the way until the word three starts coming out of my mouth before you will jump to do what you were suppose to.  2.5 years old has certainly been the most trying of your ages so far, but also so fun to hear your conversations, and new things you are learning every day.   You told me “No Mama, you don’t have big boobs, you have LITTLE boobs!”   Haha! Thanks son!   Your memory is also astounding.  You remember things we said weeks ago, we’d better start watching ourselves!  Eek!

Overall, even with your sassiness, you are such a loving, sweet kid.  We love you baby!
