Hey my little Lucas Walter,
I guess you’re really not that little anymore. You’re about 34 inches tall when we lay you down on the ground to measure you like the Dr’s office does (which strangely enough makes you appear taller than if you were measured up against a wall like adults are). You weigh about 25-26 pounds. Your foot is huge, wearing toddler size 6.5 shoes, I bet that means you’ll be tall, just like Daddy. You wear size 5 diapers, but you don’t seem interested in potty training any time soon. We are still struggling with your never-ending food allergies, and hope you grow out of them soon. Your favorite foods (besides your snack crackers and organic wheat cheerios) right now are “my mock” for “my milk”, and banana “nana”, beans “bain”, or a waffle with almond butter, and scrambled egg mixed in (you actually don’t really like eggs that much, but we want to add the extra nutrients in so we mix it all up and you will eat it).
You are so much more expressive, and becoming more verbal every day. You can say love you “luheww” when prompted, and sorry mama “saw mama” when we ask you to apologize for something (normally throwing food or hitting). You notice when things are ripped or broken, and are fast to point out that it’s “boke, boke!” You love to brush your teeth (only happy when you’re doing it yourself), and will run in to the bathroom, stand on your stool, and exclaim “brush!” until we hand it to you. You are totally fascinated with fire trucks and motorcycles. If a fire truck drives by you’ll say truck over and over again. Most of your words are still one words, as opposed to stringing the words together in sentences, but I’m sure that will come soon. You’re a rather lazy talker, but you definitely understand almost everything of what we’re saying to you.
You love your traditions. At night time, you get “my mock” (milk) and sit between us (you want us both there) in our bed and we watch about 30 minutes of America’s Funniest Videos and laugh together. Daddy tries to make us watch jeopardy, but AFV is so much better. After that tradition, Daddy and you brush your teeth, then we go to your bedroom in the big red chair and read books. Then I hold and rock you for a little while. Then you want Daddy again, so you two go around and turn all the lights off. Then you want back to me, and I will rock a little bit more before we put you down in your crib with your lovey. Oh! That reminds me, you’ve really taken to this little lovey blanket, it’s so cute! You love to tuck it under your chin. While we read books, you’ll lift up your neck, and tuck it in to keep it safe. Hilarious.
You’re really funny, and love to laugh. You also love like to kiss and hug people if you think they are sad. You still love to play basketball, and also play outside, color and play with your cars “vroom”. When I get home from work, you take my hand and lead me to your table where I sit across from you and we color a picture together. You love to color where I do. You will even push my marker out of the way before I’m finished so you can mark over my spot. Just like dogs like to pee after each other hahaha. You would love to be outside all the time, and luckily we have a great backyard that we have been enjoying now that the weather is nicer.
Speaking of enjoying the outside, you got to go to the Louisville Zoo with me, Daddy, Auntie Laina, Ella and Ben. You had a blast! Our favorite was the gorillas. Ella and Ben love to hang out with you, and you love to do whatever they’re doing! They even helped babysit you a whole day recently, which you loved!! I’m so glad you play well with other kids. You love to share, and will always hand one of your toys to who you’re playing with so they can join you. I’ve heard that the exception to this is Rylie, since you and her fight like brother and sister over the same toy. Hahaha. Well, at least you’re great with everyone else.
We’ve been to the park lots of times, and we’ve been able to hang out with Aunt Katie and Uncle Michael a couple times too. It’s been a good month, with great family and friends. Fort building, first kite flying, feeding the ducks, going to museums, the zoo, and more parks parks parks! We love the spring, and we love you!
